Four punchcards
Solved - but awaiting completion
- It's believed the answer to the punchcards below will contain the locations of 4 other specially modified cameras.
Steps taken (spoilers below, if you want to solve yourself):
- The holes in a single string format, with 1 being right-most column, are:
- Card 1) x32010x32000022002x32000222000
- Card 2) 002210320003200232000000000000
- Card 3) xx0222x02120x46454x20202000000
- Card 4) x02210564477x02210x02020000000
- Punchcards are 10 x 30 in size - appearing to be in 5 groups of 6 numbers
- Each set of 6 is a guitar chord, resulting in:
- Card 1) -32010 C, -32000 C7, 022002 Emadd2, -32000 C7, 222000 Bm/F#
- Card 2) 002210 Am/E, 320003 G, 200232 D/F#, 000000 --, 000000 --
- Card 3) --0222 DM7, -02120 AM7, -46454 C#m7, -20202 Bm7, 000000 --
- Card 4) -02210 Am, 564477 B7/A, -02210 Am, -02020 AM7, 000000 --
- Enitech received a letter from "a member of the resistance" containing two encrypted messages

- Presuming they're vigenere ciphers - working backwords, hoping the first word of the decrypted text was "THE", the two phrases returned keys of
- Clue 1) DID
- Clue 2) TIC
- From there, possible words were tested until matches were made, and eventually keys were determined, noting the common similarity of Pink Floyd lyrics.
- Did you see the frightened ones
Did you hear the falling bombs
Did you ever wonder
Why we had to run for shelter
When the promise of a brave new world
Unfurled beneath a clear blue sky (Goodbye Blue Sky) - Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town (Time)
- The songs associate with the punchcards in that the chords are key progressions in the songs:
Card 3) Dmaj7 Amaj7 C#m7 Bm7 = Time
Card 4) Am B7/A Am Amaj7 = Goodbye Blue Sky - The other cards are key progressions in the songs
Card 1) C C7 Emadd2 C7 Bm/F# = Welcome to the Machine
Card 2) Am/E G D/F# = Wish You Were Here
- Did you see the frightened ones
- When the discovered key strings were applied to the encrypted cipher text, the results were:
- Clue 1) the resistance device is near the surface of the ground at a park in granada hills ca at the following coordinates thirty four point two six one five five three minus one one eight point four nine six four four eight
- Clue 2) the resistance device is being held in a corner newstand and grocery store at fifty two canal street new york ny ask lily for the resistance package
- We are now waiting for Clue 3 and Clue 4, in order to decode with Card 1 and Card 2
- The holes in a single string format, with 1 being right-most column, are:
Package Locations and Contents
- "The resistance device is near the surface of the ground at a park in Granada Hills, CA at the following coordinates: 34.261553 -118.496448"
- vpisteve was able to get to the location and retrieve a package
- From his picture set here:
- "The resistance device is being held in a corner newstand and grocery store, at 52 Canal St., New York, NY. Ask Lily for the resistance package"
- This package was reportedly picked up by a person named "Bill", whose whereabouts at the moment are unknown, and no report of this package has yet been found.
Speculation...
- It's possible the holes may represent guitar chords forms as they appear in a tab format. eg: the first 6 numbers of the first card are "x32010" - a standard C chord. In which case each punchcard would then contain 5 chord forms. Many resulting chords however are quite varied from their major or open standard chords, though many are quite obviously standard major chords; so how they would define a code is still elusive.
- In chord form, the strings may become:
-32010 C -32000 C7 022002 Emadd2 -32000 C7 222000 Bm/F# 002210 Am/E 320003 G 200232 D/F# 000000 -- 000000 -- --0222 DM7 -02120 AM7 -46454 C#m7 -20202 Bm7 000000 -- -02210 Am 564477 B7/A -02210 Am -02020 AM7 000000 --
- a problem with chords is that odd ones may have multiple names, and different artists may disagree on what to call them.
- The chords themselves may be the progression for a song.
